When I look back at this time last year, it’s unbelievable to think that I was celebrating my birthday in my old studio surrounded by the AYSHA NY community. It was the first time I did anything celebratory for my birthday. At that time, I truly felt 2019 was the year I wanted to credit myself for achieving so many professional milestones, thus wanting to throw a birthday party. But little did I know, that in just a few months, that our world (both universally and personally) would be turned on its head. WOW!
If I could widdle down 2020 into one word, it would be this: Metamorphic.
I remember when the lockdown happened in March, all I could think about was how my business would be immensely impacted. I built AYSHA NY on the pillars of community events and in-person connections. I could no longer cater to either with our studio closed and all in-person gatherings indefinitely canceled.
In a move that I am now am grateful for, I parted ways with our larger studio space, downsized to a much smaller studio in New York City’s Garment District, and restrategized everything about my brand.
In the depths of those dark days of despair in the spring, I took time to reconnect with myself and my WHY. Gleaming strength & clarity from my WHY, I fought through every single hardship that came my way and re-opened AYSHA NY as an online destination. In the middle of a global pandemic, I was able to muster courage and resources to pivot our design philosophy and brought to life what is now the Dressing for the Now collection, which became an instant commercial success.
All the twist & turns of 2020 lead me to where I am today, writing our first blog post, a few weeks into the New Year. While life still does not look how it did back in 2019, I have tremendous hope for the future. Sure, I can’t hold the in-person gatherings I so love just yet, but in the meantime, I can bring us all together in one space; this blog.
I’m pleased to announce Threaded Together, a blog intended to showcase ambitious women in the AYSHA NY community and topics meant to propel us to new heights. You can expect to see biweekly posts that will most definitely thread us together.
I believe that we all can learn from each other's strength and that together we can endure through the dark times by sharing in one another’s light.
Stay tuned for the next blog post in which I share discovering my WHY and how it helped me through the crux of 2020. Going forward, I will be calling upon the AYSHA NY community of fearless women to share their WHY and how it has helped them become who they are today. So stay tuned for truly inspiring stories.
Any thoughts or comments? As always, I am here for YOU, as you have always been there for me.
